Best book and/or series that you’ve read in 2018?

There were many books that caught my attention. For standalone, Dear Martin by Nic Stone was such a powerful and moving read that I hope more people will read the book. I feel like shoving the book to people who have not read it yet! What are you guys doing in your life?

Alright another one, Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng. Oh God this story. I couldn’t stop reading this once I started. The drama, tension and characters were so brilliantly written! I heard there is news about making this book to a TV series. Let’s just hope that the series is great!

For series, I guess The Trials of Apollo was great as well. I miss Percy Jackson and the gang and reading about them brought back memories of reading the PJO series.

Authors that you have recently found that you would like to read more of in the new year.

I would love to read more of Nic Stone’s, Angie Thomas’, Holly Black’s stories, and from a couple more authors.

Most anticipated book turned movie/TV show?

The second book in the series of To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, P.S I Still Love You by Jenny Han. I love this first movie and I hope the second is way better!

Name a character that you wouldn’t mind sharing a kiss with at midnight (if there is one)

Cardan from The Cruel Prince would make a good candidate LOL

What’s on your TBR for 2019? (Top 5-10 will suffice if it’s an extremely long list)

My main TBR:

  1. Children of Blood and Bone
  2. Renegades series
  3. The Weight of Our Sky
  4. The Wicked King

How many books do you hope to read in 2019?

I target for 40 books this year and I hope I will make it! Last year I read 46 books and I am proud of it 🙂

Will you participate in the Goodreads reading challenge or any others? (Popsugar, Down the TBR Hole, Etc.)

This year I will participate in the Goodreads Reading Challenge and I target 40 books to read by the end of the year!

Any New Year’s resolutions? (Bookish, blogging or vlogging, and otherwise)

  1. To read more books
  2. To expand horizon – read more genre
  3. To do more blogging
  4. Get a job

That’s my book tag, guys! Thank you for reading and I’ll see you in another book tag! 🙂

This or That Book Tag!

Hello guys! I saw this post over Abigail’s blog, Abigail’s Books and I feel like why not I do this? Simple and fun book tags like are not meant to be missed! 🙂

  1. Reading on the bed or the couch?

Bed! My body aches so quickly after a few minutes reading on a chair.

  2. Male main character or female main character?

    Female main character.

  3. Sweet snacks or salty snacks when your reading?

I prefer drinks than snacks as I don’t want my hands to be dirty!

  4. Trilogies or Quartets?

Trilogies I guess. I don’t like to invest so much in a series, because I hate to spend more money on the same series and furthermore I have so many other books to read as well. Duology or standalone is better!

  5. First person point of view or third person point of view?

    POV from first person.

  6. Reading at night or in the morning?

I can read whenever I feel it’s alright! I have more time to read in the morning while going to university 🙂

  7. Libraries or bookstores?

Bookstores! I wish I can live in there someday, sometime ❤

  8. Books that make you laugh or cry?

Books that make me laugh! I dislike tear-jerker books, because it makes me sad terribly. HINT: ALLEGIANT!

  9. Black book covers or white book covers?

Black! I hate white when it comes to book covers. It will get dirty much faster and I have to take extra care of it.

  10. Character driven or plot driven?

I guess both is important. I cannot stand the story if either one is not good enough.

Thank you guys for reading my book tag! See you in another post! 🙂

Best book and/or series that you’ve read in 2017?

I didn’t read any new series other than Harry Potter but I did read a few standalones last year. I read Wing Jones by Katherine Webber and also Furthermore by Tahereh Mafi. I love both of those stories! Wing Jones is a coming of age and also a moving story. Furthermore is a unique yet whimsical story which offers life related advises and elements.

Authors that you have recently found that you would like to read more of in the new year.

I recently discoved the writings of Tahereh Mafi. I have heard of her for a long time, but I haven’t got the chance of reading books yet. The Shatter Me series receives mixed reviews but for Furthermore, mostly there are positive.

Most anticipated book turned movie/TV show?

I am excited for To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before book to movie adaptation! Cannot wait to see my favourite characters on screen! I am also VERY excited for Crimes of Grindlewald.

Crime of Grindlewald still

Name a character that you wouldn’t mind sharing a kiss with at midnight (if there is one)

AHH if only I could choose more than one 😛 The only character that I can think of now is Hideo Tanaka from Warcross by Marie Lu. He is rich, smart and also dreamy ❤ ❤

What’s on your TBR for 2018? (Top 5-10 will suffice if it’s an extremely long list)

  1. Whichwood by Tahereh Mafi.
  2. Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor. (This book is in my TBR for YEARS ALREADY!!)
  3. Still Me by Jojo Moyes.
  4. Batman: Nightwalker by Marie Lu.
  5. Save the Date by Morgan Matson.

I am most excited for number 5!!

How many books do you hope to read in 2018?

I am rooting for 35 books, but I think I can do more! I have already read 5 books till today. I AM BACK WITH MY READING GAME!

Will you participate in the Goodreads reading challenge or any others? ( Popsugar, Down the TBR Hole, Etc.)

I am participating in Goodreads and targeting to read 35 books!

Any New Year’s resolutions? (Bookish, blogging or vlogging, and otherwise)

  1. I wish to read more than 35 books this year.
  2. Post more book reviews/talks/tags for my blog.
  3. I want to do well in my final year of degree and also internship program.
  4. Score good grades in exams.
  5. Give back to my family ❤

That’s my book tag, guys! Thank you for reading and I’ll see you in another book tag! 🙂

The Book Blogger Test Tag

I was tagged by the Amazing Abigail from Abigail’s Books!

Don’t forget to check her post out!

Thank you so much for tagging me because now I feel more intrigued to do book tags now even though I have tonnes of school work to do! Really appreciate it, Abigail ❤

Let’s get started!

1. Thank the person who nominated you and add a link to their blog.

2. Answer the ten questions asked on this post.

3. Nominate at least five people to do it also.

Top 3 book pet hates

  1. I hate it when I accidentally left my book in my school bag. Fragile and flimsy things like paperbacks will easily get damaged when they are in contact with other edgy things in your bag :/ I want my book to be damage-free!
  2. I hate reading iBooks! It ruined my eyes so badly. I prefer to read physical/printed books now. I used to read like 30 books in my book last year but after some time my eye sight has worsen! :/ Expensive books made me resort to read eBooks.
  3. Writers writing an intentional story with POC characters truly disappoints me. I feel like everyone wants to write about POC books in order for them to be ‘included’ in the market. Please write genuine stories. Don’t get me wrong, I am a POC and strong advocate for POC representation in every industry, not just in books. I also don’t like reading books with stories about the ‘inferiors are bad and dangerous’ and stuff. Like come on, don’t write stories to imply bad reputations to others.

Perfect reading spot

Obviously my bed or at my computer desk. However, at night I will fall asleep much easily with a book on my lap or head haha

Three book confessions

  1. I prefer standalone compared to series. Unless the book is truly worthy like the Harry Potter series ❤ It is really time and money consuming when you start to commit to a series. That is why I only read a few series such as Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Heroes of Olympus, Divergent, The Hunger Games, The Wrath and The Dawn! I am now yet to read Crooked Kingdom, A Torch Against The Night and The Mignight Star because I feel so lazy and I have to spend more money to buy them :/ Standalones are better.
  2. I am NOT and NEVER intrigued to read Twilight, Game of Thrones and other lengthy series.
  3. I am very jealous to those who received free books or you may call it ARCS from publishers :/ And I am mad to those who are selling their ARCS to people who don’t have the privilege of reading ARCS 😦 If I were to receive ARCS, I will just give them to my friends after finished reading because why do you want to keep them instead of sharing?

Last time you cried reading a book

The last moment that I truly cried badly when I read Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson. The book was truly a good read. I just love Morgan Matson’s writing! Never fail to amaze me.

Number of books on your bedside table

I don’t have many books for me to stack them on my bedside table. The last time I bought books was November last year. I know right, it sucks to be me :/

Favorite reading snack

I don’t have snacks while I’m reading, however, I drink tea!

Three books you would recommend to anyone

  1. Harry Potter series! Guys, to those who haven’t read it, fun and magical things await! 🙂
  2. Any books from Morgan Matson. Good stories.
  3. Wing Jones by Katherine Webber.

A picture of your favorite bookshelf

This is one of the parts of my bookshelf 🙂 You can see that I am a big fan of YA contemporary and dystopian stories 😛 The other part of my bookshelf consists of Fantasy books such as Harry Potter, The Wrath and The Dawn, Illuminae, Six of Crows and An Ember in The Ashes 🙂

What book means to you in three words

  1. Magical
  2. Escapism
  3. Empathy

Biggest reading secret

Last time I used to read the ending first and after that I will start reading from front! I know, pathetic and weird isnt? I don’t do it nowadays because I will lose the thrill of reading a totally new book.

Thank you so much for your time! 🙂

Till next time

The Happiness Tag

download (5)

Life is all about happiness. We, humans crave for happily-ever-after endings. Life is too short to be sad and stressed out always ❤

This post is dedicated to Abigail’s Books for always being one of my source of happiness ❤

“Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”  – Albus Dumbledore

List five things that make you happy

  1. Books. This will be the first point for every bookworm who exists in the world. It is so magical that you can completely lose yourself in a very different world from yours. Books are portable magic 🙂
  2. Drinking tea, coffee or hot chocolate! I always need it during breakfast to boost my day! I resort to tea or hot chocolate if my stomach decided to not accept coffee in the mornings :/
  3. Harry Potter. I know that everyone who follows me, knows that I am a Potterhead. Always a Potterhead at heart ❤
  4. Disney. I love all things Disney! Cars, The Incredibles, Moana, Monster Inc. and the list continues! I am officially an adult now, but my age will never stop me from loving Disney movies!
  5. Money. I know it is kind of materialistic, but having money in your bank account and savings gives you reassurance that your life is blessed and fortunate 🙂

List five songs that make you happy

Static Space Lovers by Foster the People

Voulez-Vous by Abba

Chained to the Rhythm by Katy Perry

Sarah Smiles by Panic! At The Disco

Cool Kids by Echosmith

Till next time

The Miranda Sings Award

download (1).jpg

I was nominated by the amazing Abigail’s Books.

She is a very sweet person because she always includes me in her posts and that makes me feel very appreciated ❤ I am just so glad to know her 🙂

Thanks again Abigail! Don’t forget to check her post later!

  • Announce your win with a post, and link the blogger who nominated you.
  • Include the featured image on your blog post.
  • Nominate 10 bloggers (or as many as you can think of) and link your awardees in the post.
  • List 7 things you love about yourself. (This can be about your appearance, your personality, your achievements, etc.)
  • Don’t use negative connotation (i.e. Don’t say things like – “I’m prettier than an average person.” or “People have told me I’m smart.” You are pretty. You are smart.)

Seven Things I Love About Myself:

  1. I LOVE that I am a reader. This is the most valuable gift that I received from me, myself and I. Studies show that readers are likely to become leaders and more understanding people 🙂
  2. I am a hardworking person. I do things wholeheartedly, instead of playing around. I put my 100% effort to the things that I want to finish.
  3. I don’t splurge on things easily! I come from a very mediocre family, so we don’t splurge and buy unnecessary stuffs, just to please the heart and lust to buy. I love it how my parents have instilled the habit of saving to their children, so we won’t face any financial problems from spending too much.
  4. Simple and cheap things will make my day. Even a good morning wish from the people I love can make me happy ❤
  5. I LOVE my skin so much! I am thankful that I don’t usually face major breakouts and zits all the time. My skin tone is light-brown and not sensitive. The message here is to always appreciate your skin if you don’t have any major skin problems. Don’t chase for expensive skin cares as skin care products mainly consist of synthetic and semi-synthetic chemical products.
  6. I have a family who understands me so well. I won’t trade them for anything else. I am actually more of a family person. I am willing to work hard and spend my money for their happiness ❤
  7. I love for the fact that my university and house are so near! I can always go back home every day to escape from university stress :/

I Nominate:

The Cursed Books

Lovely Lorryn from Reading Parental

Krista and Dawlyn from Little Blind Book Finds

The Nerdy Bibliophile

The Nerdy Side of A Queen

Cannot wait to read your answers ❤

Thank you very much for reading my award post!

Liebster Award 2017

I was nominated by wonderful Abigail from Abigail’s Books! ❤

It is always fun to do these kind of award posts because it makes me happy and accomplished of my book blog’s progress!

What is Liebster Award?

The Liebster Award is an award presented to bloggers by other fellow bloggers, with the pure intention of supporting each other! As part of being nominated, you must answer the eleven questions given by the blogger who kindly nominated you. Then, in turn, nominate eleven more bloggers and leave eleven new questions for them to answer.

Let’s get into it! 🙂

Abigail’s Question

1. Who’s your favourite author?

J.K. Rowling! I love her story so much! Her story is so meaningful to me until now! Rick Riordan, Marissa Meyer and Renee Ahdieh. These people write such good stories!

2. Have you ever met any authors? If so who? If not who would you want to meet?

Unfortunately I haven’t 😦 My country rarely does international author meet ups and book conventions unlike other parts of world such as US, UK, Australia.

I really hope there will be more in the future! 🙂

3. What’s your all-time favorite book?

The book must be very good, the characters must be likeable and the environment of the book must be lovely! These criteria suit my favourite book of all time, Harry Potter!

4. What do you do to get out of a slump?

I will watch tonnes of booktube videos comprising book hauls, book reviews and book charades! I will be inspired by their videos and that will make me to read even more! 🙂

5. What’s your favorite bookstore? Or do you prefer online shopping? If so what’s your favorite online bookstore?

My favourite bookstore is MPH Bookstore! I bought most of my books there, because the price used to be really cheap. However, since two years ago, the price starts to boom and now I don’t really purchase them much 😦

My favourite bookstore is also MPH Online where I will preorder books with discounts 🙂 To be honest the last time I bought books was on November 2016! 😦

6. What’s your favorite thing about blogging?

Seeing my book blog grows and receives recognition from the book community! I love it how people are so nice and sweet by commenting and reading my posts because I know that there are so many book bloggers out there that are more established than mine. I am very thankful for that ❤

7. Do you like getting nominated for these types of posts? (Be honest)

Who doesn’t? I don’t feel pressured about it, I just take my time to answer the questions given by people who have nominated me! I should be grateful and happy for the recognition and nomination from people.

8. Do you like reading posts more or writing posts more?

9. Do you have any pets? (Random I know haha)

Nope but I would love to have one! ❤

I really want to have a cat, but my parents would never let me to have one 😦 I would love to have a Scottish Fold please 🙂 ❤

10. What book do you think has the prettiest cover?

I think Strange the Dreamer (US and UK edition) is stunning!

11. Do you want to be an author?

Hmm considering the amount of stress that you have to face, I think I will just stick to being a reader. Don’t get me wrong, I love writing stories, but being a writer is not for me.

My questions are:

  1. Do you want to be a #1 NYT Bestselling Author or a famous publisher in the world who publishes pristine and fine quality books?
  2. List down one author who you really don’t like his/her books.
  3. Are you an advocate and believer for diverse books? Why?
  4. You have to choose to burn and rewrite either these two series, Divergent and The Hunger Games. Justify your choice.
  5. Are you feeling insecure with your blog’s progress? Do you want to have thousands of followers in order for you to be accomplished?
  6. Do you like entering book giveaways? Have you won any?
  7. Choose one thing or problem in the world that you would like to settle and stop.
  8. Are you interested in writing a book?
  9. How do you face or encounter a problematic book? Do you read it or DNF’d it?
  10. Who is your favourite booktuber/YouTuber?
  11. Do you prefer to eat fast food once a week or once a month?

I tag five lovely bloggers:

YA Allegiance

Marty from The Cursed Books

Amber from Ambsreads

Nikki from Nikki’s Novel Niche

Lauren from Northern Plunder

That’s it for my nomination!

Congratulations to the nominees! You guys really deserve the recognition from other people. I cannot wait to read your answers! Please notify me when you have done it so I can check it out.

Please don’t be pressured by my nominations, I just want to advertise your blog to more people so that people can read more of your posts! ❤

Thank you for reading and see you in another blog post!

Top Ten Tuesday | Ten Books That Feature Strong Female Characters

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly event hosted over at The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is: Top Ten Books That Feature Strong Female Characters!

Here’s the list of my Top Ten Books That Feature Strong Female Characters 🙂

Harry Potter series by J.K Rowling

In this series, there are loads of strong female leads! I personally love Professor McGonagall and Molly Weasley because they are two awesome and the nicest human beings you can ever read about! They are selfless, strong and badass in the same time! Don’t forget Hermione Granger, Ginny Weasley and Luna Lovegood!

Percy Jackson and the Olympians series by Rick Riordan

How can a person be both intelligent and good in fighting too? Annabeth Chase is! 🙂

The Wrath and The Dawn by Renee Ahdieh

I want to be Shahzrad when I grow up. I want her ability to converse and negotiate well to people!

The Lunar Chronicles series by Marissa Meyer

I just noticed that, all of the book titles are actually about strong women! All of them carry very different background stories and they are all very tough in their own ways!

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

Louisa Clark. Accurate presentation of myself 🙂

The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins

You can see that Katniss Everdeen is a very selfless, brave young women who is willing to save her sister from the cruel government! As the series goes, she has developed to become a mature person with who can see things maturely without any prejudice.

Divergent series by Veronica Roth

A young girl with astounding capabilities who wants to fight the corrupt government? SIGN ME UP!

Wing Jones by Katherine Webber

Moving story with some racism aspects which can open the eyes of people who are ignorant about it. Wing Jones’ character development is my favourite of all!

Matilda by Roald Dahl

Poor Matilda who faces serious problems with an abusive family at a very young age! 😦 Glad that she has her own happy ending ❤

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han

She might be very annoying and indecisive at the beginning, however she matures eventually at the next two books! She is a wonderful sister and daughter for her family! She is like the ‘mother’ of the household 🙂

There you go! All of these characters have a special place in my heart because of their strength and passion! Strong women rock the world! ❤ ❤

Thursday Tag #9: Readers Problem Tag

Greetings Book People!

Readers will always have unavoidable problems!!

I am actually very intrigued to do this tag because last week I saw The Readers Bay did this so Imma do it this week! Thanks to The Readers Bay for inspiring me to do this tag! 🙂

I love answering questions related to books so let’s get started!

1. You have 20,000 books on your TBR. How in the world do you decide what to read next?

Haha, I think it is just so impossible for a person to have 20,000 books to be read. If I do, I will pick new releases and search for reviews at WordPress and YouTube to find more. Oh God what a world to live in with a mountain of books!

2. You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you quit or are you committed?

I will quit and DNF’d it. I cannot stand reading a book that does not suit my forte! However, if the book is one of my favourite genre, I will still continue reading it!

At first, I DNF’d Six of Crows at the first chapter because I didn’t know what was going on for the book! I went to Goodreads and almost everyone rated that they loved the book so much! I ended up liking the book because the book was so good!

3. The end of the year is coming and you’re so close, but so far away on your Goodreads reading challenge. Do you try to catch up and how?

This is what I am going through right now *sobs*

I am not even half reaching my goal! It is because I don’t have the time to read much and I don’t buy books that often now because books are very expensive and I am in the midst of saving money for the future! You can never know what the future sets for you so I am always going to be ready for it. Maybe I can buy a few new releases on my upcoming birthday this November. *hinting to everyone who reads this*

4. The covers of a series you love do. not. match. How do you cope?

It hasn’t happened to me yet but I will be so annoyed about it. I love it how all of my books in the series are in the same length or width whatsoever.

5. Every one and their mother loves a book you really don’t like. Who do you bond with over shared feelings?

Unfortunately I don’t have any close friends who I can share my interest with 😦

6. You’re reading a book and you are about to start crying in public. How do you deal?

I will just cry my heart out! I don’t care what people are going to say about me because it is my special moment with the book!66de03e6b78d499c7817a3fe3259787c--feel-tired-computer-lab

7. A sequel of a book you loved just came out, but you’ve forgotten a lot from the prior novel. Will you re-read the book? Skip the sequel? Try to find a synopsis on Goodreads? Cry in frustration?!?!?!?

I don’t have much time to reread books just to remember the plot line from the prior novel.

I will search for reviews on Goodreads/WordPress/YouTube from book lovers because I trust their reviews!

8. You do not want anyone. ANYONE. borrowing your books. How do you politely tell people nope when they ask?

I will blurt a line like this: “Oh someone is reading my book now, I’m so sorry!”

HAHA things that will do to protect your babies ❤ ❤ ❤

9. Reading ADD. You’ve picked up and put down 5 books in the last month. How do you get over your reading slump?

Harry Potter will cure my reading slump. I have done it a few times, it all worked! You should try it sometime.

10. There are so many new books coming out that you’re dying to read! How many do you actually buy?

I will buy books from my favourite authors! I will buy 3 new releases at least on my birthday every year. Just FYI, my birthday is on November. *shamelessly promoting my birthday*

11. After you’ve bought the new books you can’t wait to get to, how long do they sit on your shelf before you get to them?

2 weeks to 1 month. I will usually have something more important to do, such as sitting for finals and doing revision. I will leave them only temporarily, I will read them as soon as possible!

Tags like this never disappoint me! See you in another tag! Adios, lovely people!
